Product Definition
Brucite Composite is Magnesium Hydroxide in mineral form. It is easily the most cost effective source of Magnesium Hydroxide as a dry material. Brucite Composites can easily be milled down to a sub-10 micron particle size giving it reaction and neutralization times equal to the Magnesite and Magnesium Chloride sources of Mg(OH)2. Many customers within domestic USA and worldwide have taken advantage of switching to a dry Mg(OH)2 powder rather than shipping 50% – 60% water.

With the typical slurry truckload of Magnesium Hydroxide containing 50% – 63% water — customers receiving slurry Mg(OH)2 will only receive 12-13 dry tons of Mg(OH)2 per shipment. When utilizing MgOH2 as a dry powder – a typical truckload is 22 dry tons.

Uses
Flame Retardant – Brucite Composites is becoming more popular as a component in flame retardant products. Alumina Trihydroxide (ATH) is currently the largest mineral filler component in such products but Mg(OH)2 has been gaining more and more attention because of its superior properties. It has a lower smoke generation and a higher stability field than ATH. Brucite Composites is often used as a flame retardant filler in the plastic and paper industries and in the field of environmental protection.
Fertilizer – It is also used as an additive in the fertilizer.
Steel – Brucite Composites is used as an additive in steel.
